Сharitable auction in Grand Hotel Europe PDF 
On January, 17th in Grand Hotel Europe within the limits of Christmas fair will be carried out traditional charitable auction. Paintings made by Russian celebrities will be sold by auction under the name “Alphabet”. This meeting become a traditional ending of Christmas holidays in St Petersburg. The essence of charitable auction remains invariable: famous citizens of Saint Petersburg draw pictures for the «Christmas alphabet» which then sell at auction, and the obtained means go to children's homes and hospitals. The idea of the action belongs to art association "Mitki". The leader of “Mitki” Dmitry Shagin has suggested thirty three known media persons to draw one picture - on each letter of the Russian alphabet. Hes idea has soon had the development. Last year the picture "The Bear" drawn by the governor of Saint Petersburg Valentina Matvienko has been sold by auction for eleven millions roubles (nearly $350 000). The received money has been directed to the Petersburg hospitals and on restoration of temples. This year charitable auction in Grandee Hotel Europe will be devoted the great Russian writer Nikolay Gogol which 200 anniversary will be celebrated in 2009.
